Release

I wrote this one this fall and debuted it live at the Reawakening Conference last month. It's obviously about the release of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost in Acts 2, and it's a prayer for God to continue to pour out his Spirit to set the captives free today. Enjoy!

Lyrics:

All locked away, quiet and afraid

Racked with doubt, wish he had stayed

Time’s running short, they’re bound to come for us

All that he said rings in our ears

Raising the dead, his kingdom here

Wait for the Helper, he’ll always be with us

How long, O Lord? Why did you leave us?

I hear a sound, like a rushing wind

I see the flames suddenly appear

They came to rest on each one of us

We feel him burn down in our bones

We feel a pow’r we’d never known

And strange tongues begin to rise in us

We have to share the name of Jesus

Release your Spirit, Lord

Let him rain down on us
